Between 1995 and 1998, several valets debuted in WWF: Sunny, Marlena, Sable and Debra. Following Blayze’s controversial exit from the company, the women’s division became inactive during this time. At first, the characters were a continuation of the WWE female manager but became more sexualized as time progressed. Although the term diva was not used on WWF television until April 1999, these women are considered to be the first Divas.
